The Account Director is responsible for the development of ongoing business relationships from the prospect stage through existing account management. The Account Director leads and manages client engagement, thought leadership and is responsible for the overall client satisfaction, quality of service and budget completion for the agency's services. The role supports agency financial goals by maintaining and growing existing client relationships and contributing to efforts to establish relationships with new clients.
General Job Duties:
- Build and manage strong, trusted client relationships of accounts and provide key strategic initiatives/thinking and bold new ideas.
- Responsible for account growth, client satisfaction, and retention through identifying client’s requirements.
- Independently lead and make decisions that properly balance the needs of the account and those of clients, internal goals and team.
- Keeps well-informed on all account activities, thus anticipating trouble (internal or external) or client dissatisfaction and takes steps to remedy any such situation.
- Establish annual billing and revenue goals for each client, tracking progress on a quarterly basis.
- Is concerned with the agency’s profitability and identifies specific opportunities for growth within existing client organizations.
- Guides, advises, assists, and stimulates all team members who come in contact with client account.
- Manage the Account Services team, which includes providing adequate training and guidance, conducting performance reviews, and resolving issues/problems.
- Participates in and contributes to new business activities of the agency as required.
- Ensures management practices within the department are professional and timely.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Proven negotiation skills experience, especially contract negotiations, with both clients and partners.
- Excellent public speaking skills and experience.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with clients by gaining trust and repeated successful delivery of expectations.
- Ability to foster strong, cohesive working interdisciplinary teams.
- Aptitude to define solutions that will generate measurable results for the client.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Demonstrable strategic thinking and follow through.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Proven track record of managing multiple accounts successfully.
- BA required, MBA a plus.
- 8-10 years of agency (preferred) or related communication industry experience that provides an understanding of advertising, marketing, media, creative, production, research, finance, etc.
- Experience with various projects types, including traditional, digital and social.
